It can be done.

To make it simpler lets think about it like this:

A cleric cast heal, revive, and other skills:

This same concept can be use for a mage:

Example: You cast a fire, lighting, etc base magic spell on a swordie, cleric, archer and their weapon becomes embedded with that power (for a set time, just like protect, restore, etc. and when it wears off).

If you think about it this way it is very possible.

One thing I'm thinking is should all player be allowed to do it or should there be a requirement.

So this is what I think on that:

Friends/ team skills: I seems fiesta keeps track of things you sell of time online (ie. to get titles)

This same feature can be used to be a requirement.

Let me explain:

-It can be set as you have to be in a party with a friend or guild mate for x amount of time. Then you can do this team tech/skill.

-Make it a team quest skill when you finish the quest you learn a new skill called "fire enchantment" or lighting, you get the idea. This would work like heal. You pick a player and cast "fire enchantment". And bam the weapon has a fire attribute.

-Another way is you can make it that you have to kill a certain amount of monster.

What ever way you feel is ok for a player to earn this cool ability is ok with me but it can be done....
