The suit's timer will begin to expire from the minute you buy it. Its timer will run in real world time, not game time. That means, even if you aren't logged on, it still counts down. So you obviously bought it sixteen hours earlier and didn't open it until then. Now you have eight hours left.

No. It counts down from the minute you activate it.

You can buy it and NEVER activate it.

Well, it is the weekend. And most people at Outspark are off on the weekends. <.<
So you might not get a reply until next week..ish.

Though I'm not sure why you need to. Once you activate an item, the timer counts down even if you are not logged on. And a GM has already tended to your question here already, so I don't see what good PM'ing fiesta_help will do, unless you have another issue that you just aren't conveying well enough for us to understand properly.
