Lately I have been getting lag problems. Obviously it shouldn't be too much of a problem, but with the recent update it has seemed to have escalated. With my lack of knowledge on subjects such as this I was hoping you guys might know of a way to help me reduce lag for Fiesta. I am not to concerned with a little lag but my major problem is that it seems that the whole area "freezes". During this freeze I can still rotate the camera and type in the chat box, but the chat won't appear, combat won't take its affect and other effects won't appear for a few seconds until the "freezing" ends, which has resulted in death several times. Also, I would like to hear of anyone else's problems with lag.

Are you using DSL internet?

Yes I do. As far as anything else the only thing I can tell you is that its speed is 54.0 Mbps and it always runs at perfect connection (unless its a problem with the router, which I have not had.) Sorry, but I have a lack of knowledge when it comes to networking and the sort.

I used to have DSL back when I played another MMO, it worked fine but then one day it started going wonky on me. Just by any chance do you use Bell for your internet? I used to have Bell high speed DSL and what would happen is this.

It would slowly get out of sync from server to client, my char would walk funny and glitchy, and skill/pots would take a few seconds to kick in. Then all the sudden, I would get this 30 second lag spike where the entire game appeared to have frozen. Monsters would stop, everything, even gold spammers were stopped =P Anyway, my solution to this strange lag was to play in windowed mode. Whenever the lag starts, click and hold on the little blue bar at the top of game. I haven't tried this in Fiesta, but for some reason it would 'stop' the game entirely and when you let go, it's un-frozen.

Anyway, I ended up switching to Cable internet, same price, faster, more reliable. The lag spikes have not returned. As for the cause of this lag, I don't know. Heck, it might not even be your internet, but I see a connection between using DSL and these lag spikes you have described. I have seen countless times, these lag spikes...Many people experiencing them are using DSL.

Well I don't use Bell, I use Verizon. As for holding the bar, thanks for the tip and I'll try that. I still want more ways to reduce lag though as not all the time will i get lag where it freezes and even the little stuff can get annoying.

It kinda happen to everyone... =/

Even if you're running at almost perfect connection speed, you can still sometimes experience freezing.

This usually happen to me when I'm KQing...

Well, after switching to cable I still get the little stuff now and again. Also, this update was pretty awesome and probably attracted a few more players. Maybe try reducing video quality...Sounds crazy, but some have said that reducing video quality can reduce network lag...Hey you never know XD

Do you lag on other games, or only Fiesta?

Currently, Fiesta is the only game I play. But now when I got on it seems to lag a little less so it may have been that more players were on for the update and for lowering the graphic settings. By the way, what is LOD distance? Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated as well.

LOD distance, it's basically how far the game has to render graphics. For example, with max LOD distance you might be able to see 50 metres away...With minimum, you might only be able to see 20 metres ahead...The rest is all a blur, or in Fiesta's case, nothingness XD

It's a good way keep better graphics while giving your computer a little break.

Ah, I see. Well the graphics tune-down worked very well, I have little to no lag now. I will keep looking for ways to reduce lag. Thanks for all your help guys I don't think there is much more you can help me with here.
