View Full Version : What is a good way to build an apprentice

Well, I just started the game about an hour or so ago, I've tried searching the Mage forums but I couldn't find anything particularly helpful. I would like to know what the typical stats people use as an apprentice/mage/etc. From what I've gathered Int is my spell power and very important.
However how important are Men and Wis to apprentices and the like? Could anybody give me like a list of how to spread out my points as I level? I would really like a moderate mana pool since I seem to burn through mine so quickly, but I would also like large damage and critical rates or would a build like this be out of the question because it would water down my damage if I wanted a lot more mana?
Please help!

int for the win
go intelligence as much as you can. for better charging mana when sitting use mentallity to

Well if I focus heavily on int and men, what about having a ludicrously small mana pool? I mean, the less I have to sit/pot the more damage I will be doing though the hits will be slightly smaller. While with a moderate amount of men I can crit more often. More crits(to make up for smaller damage from a lower int)+less down time would = a better mage, no?

Bigger mana pool = longer sitting periods. And lesser time to kill.

Bigger mana pool = going longer without sitting and allowing a longer time frame to allow for natural regen to get a couple ticks in as I'm running around?

Wisdom helps build up your mana pool. As far as I can tell, that's all Wisdom does. Intelligence is spell power, and Mentality .... I don't know exactly what Men does.
I don't think there's any one right way to build an apprentice. It all depends on whether you'd rather have a lot of MP and go longer without pots while fighting, or larger spell power and kill more with your MP.

Ok, I think I came up with something in order to fulfill that which I would like. I was thinking of a stat distribution rotation of 3:1:1. That is 3 int, 1 men, 1 wis. This way I increase all of the mages needed stats while keeping a moderatly high spell damage. Spell dmg+ spell cast speed/spell crit+ larger mana pool/magic defense. Sounds good to me, what do you guys think?

Hm up it to the 5:1:1 int/men/wis if you don't wanna have any drawbacks later. Remember you can't reset your stats in game till you become a mage, (unless you buy the stat reset from the sc) so I'd rather you play it safe.
But hey that's just my 2 cents

You do not get a stat reset when changing to mage~
So be very careful when choosing what build you'll use... Unless you can afford a Rebirth Card. XD
And in my opinion, Wis isn't that good... Simply because you'll be doing less damage, which means more casts, using more mp. Maybe it could make the extra mp you get useless.
But this is just my opinion. I don't use Wis so I don't know much. (I use pure Int and love the high damage lol)

Holy hell we don't get a stat reset when we change to mage? Damn I'm so screwed! >.< (I accidentally put some extra stats into pow, and sta, when I started off since I had no idea what I was doing at the time.)

well be happy since we need power to be able to use higher lvl weapons. might be usefull there. and besides. a few more stamina or not can be good who knows. but if you have made 30 power then you really should buy a stat reset :P
