When will I be able to download it?

Can someone tell me a UK time or date or whatever. I want to be able to play but the game download link says that I need to wait for the game to open again. Should I just wait *sigh*, Or can I download it from a different web site?

Am I the only one who sees a problem with ONLY being able to download and instal lthe game AFTER the servers come up? What kind of straegy is this, opening up the servers before people can play?


The download server has nothing to do with the game server, so the download could be put up ANY time beforehand... It's called preperation. Have it available so people CAN have it installed when the game servers launch, otherwise people on lower connections will be hours getting in, while those on 4-6 meg connections will be in within 10 minutes.


Sotr of like a kid's Christmas present.... You get the toy you always wanted.. only to find out you need to wait even longer...cause the batteries weren't included.

It could probably be population control, people will download it faster than some and they can get in before this way. We don't all have the game downloaded and at 3:00 ten thousand people won't all try to log in at once.

And because of it. .there'l lbe a bottleneck like for the CB2 release.... I had a friend do a speed test and she was getting a 4 meg DL speed.... when the download became available....*he DL speed for the game dropped..and dropped... until she was only getting a 16K/sec xfer rate, and on my 768K DLS I wasn't getting any higher either.


Would be a good idea to use mirrors like fileplanet, fileshack etc. or maybe even a torrent in addition to the main download here. Most other games go that route.

I know what you mean. But I'd be more concerned about the game server working, and since they had that problem last time. It might be overly optimistic, but maybe they found some way to fix it, pushed extra resources into that server. But like I said, I'm happy that they're going to measures to make sure the server isn't down in 20 minutes after the release of open beta.

For CB 2, server was up for 45 minutes before the download was even made available due to some issues getting it posted.... I know the server was up cause the CB1 client still worked.

Well it goes back to the idea of probably not wanting to just start the server and have everyone crash through the gates and crashing the server. It's probably best that they take these precautions.
