View Full Version : Why does it take long to "copy" Korean/Japanese version to English?

Probably I underestimate how much work it takes to translate Bright Kingdom (Korean/Japanese version of Fiesta) to Fiesta in English. I thought it should be easy, since Fiesta should be VERY SIMILAR to Bright Kingdom. I somehow think Fiesta wanted to have some features that Bright Kingdom don't have.

How much work does it really takes to update? What are some major difference between what Fiesta has that Bright Kingdom don't, if any?

Well, first there are the communicaitons between Korea and USA, sometimes involving a representative to physically come over for talks. Then there's the translation of code and language, testing, bugs scoping, removal... then there's the release which, as we all know, may contain bugs... which have to be sent back to Korea to fix and the process resets again.

What seems like it should be fixed quickly can sometimes take a rather long time. I know for a fact Outspark has sent requests for fixesa dn ahd to wait, often sending update requests several times in a row before getting an asnwer...

Hope that sheds some light on the issue.

I think I need to learn more computer stuff to understand this... =/

Thanks Serric for your great information. ^_^

Also Fiesta is very differant from the other versions. We have a ton of less skills then them and we have totally differant exp rates. Mobs are weaker on Korean version but they need more exp to lvl. So they have to program all this into the game. If Outspark decided to not put a skill in for a class they have to make up for it somehow, it could be increased dmg on other skills, more dmg on weapons, or even more base str/int.

Some of the major differences I have noticed between Fiesta and Bright Kingdom are in Bright Kingdom it is easier to level up as you get more exp per monster, you get alot of free clothes, hats are visible, you can get trading cards every day that you can trade for items, cash shop items are a longer duration (60 - 90 day use) and cheaper. huge variety of clothing and weapons, you can get a mystery box that has free items, many different pets, movers, and items, maps are slightly different as is the BMG. My favorite thing is the "mini house" you can get furniture and live in your own house. Item exchange, Fiesta announcement music is the drop music in BK, they have a camp system where you can cook your own stuff, you get 15 eyes per pack from the CS. You get "mileage points" you can exchange for bonus points to buy from the CS. oh and you have all the productions skills already.

Biggest difference is not many people play Bright Kingdom anymore so its very nice to see how active and lively Fiesta is and it is great how the GMs and staff get involved in the game to keep it interesting.

The good thing about this post is realizing what's to come. By knowing Bright Kingdom has so much shizzle, i am excited because everytime something new is introduced into the game, it makes us excited. Someone said the european version will be very stripped down, but for players getting there from the start as new things are introduced its gonna be cool. So i'll wait and see what new goodies are migrated over from bright kingdom. >> dun make us wait too long.

Well consider this...

I like Fiesta

나는 축제를 좋아한다

I like a festival

That was from English, to Korean, to English using BabelFish, and as you can see the meaning has changed. You can't just use a translator program and let it go. Somone needs to actually know and understand both languages and read all the text or it just comes out in either gibberish or half meanings. This is especially needed when idioms or other slang might be used.

The reason why the update/feature take a long time to be implement in the english version of Fiesta is due to their contract they sign as certain clause in their contract might "allow"/approve them to introduce new stuff/feature only few, like, say, months later after the korea version had done it
