I recently bought a new computer, and whenever I try to download Directx 9.0, it never does. I've tried about 6 times and it won't show up on my program list, and obviously isn't there at all. Fiesta is a little weird without it. :P

I was wondering if anyone knew why and could help me? o.o

You probably has Vista, which probably already has DX9 right out of the box.
I think on Vista the search bar doubles as a run box. Type dxdiag in it and press enter, and you'll soon find out.

Well, when you say "Programs" list, do you mean Add/Remove programs, or your Start->Programs menu? DirectX will not show up in Start->Programs, mainly because it's not an application. And in fact, on my Windows 2000 machine, DirectX does not even show up in Add/Remove programs, either. Thus, are you sure it's not installed?

Since you're on XP: Start->Run... type dxdiag, hit ok.

Yes, it shows up on there, but it never truly runs the games the same as my old computer did.

And by the way, after I go to "Run" and type in "Dxdiag" what am I supposed to do there off?

Your dxdiag says 9.0c?

Yes, it does.

Then the problem likely lies elsewhere. What are your old system's specs and what are the new ones?

2GHz cpu and 512MB of RAM.. little bit light on the memory there but if it has a decent video card it should do no worse than mine. Smells like a budget PC to me though so it may not have a decent video card.

Is the sticker still on your PC? A lot of factory built computers have a sticker on 'em highlighting their features and such. If not...

In dxdiag, click the save all information button. It'll create a text file with a crap load of info on it. See this post here for an example of what I need: http://outspark.com/forums/showpost.php?p=666204&postcount=1

Post here what it asks for so I can find out if your video card is up to the task.

Also important, do you remember anything at all about the old one? CPU speed, memory, video card make and model?
