I've noticed lately that the server specific General Discussion sections have become a bit spammy lately. Allow me to explain something...

The server (Teva, Epith, Bijou, Apoline) General discussion section is reserved for server specific discussion. For example.. events, the community, server issues, things you may not find on the other servers.

Basically, to figure out if your thread is fine.. take out the Teva-specific touch out of it, make it Fiesta-general, then think... could it go in the Fiesta General Discussion (http://outspark.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=14) section without it getting closed or moved?

These sections lately have been somewhat similar to the Off Topic (http://outspark.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=26) section, which they should not.

I, and the other CLs, have decided to start cracking down on these sections a little more. But since these sections have been neglected for so long, a lot of the members may be a little shocked or overwhelmed by the sudden changes.

Consider this a possibly heads up, but I would like to get some feedback and opinions first.

Tell me what you think!

I think some of the old stickied posts need to either be removed or unstickied. It would be nice if some of the older posts were deleted (Apoline is on page 64!, and that's from October of last year.) But if someone has a problem with X and asks for help in the Apoline section I don't mind, even if it has been discussed in the general Fiesta forum, because I know for someone new to the forums it could be overwhelming to have that many threads to read through (on mine it says I have 3 pages of new posts to topics ) I also don't mind the games that are specific to the server, it lets me get to know people in the game and their personalities. As an example, if Versiee didn't post to the forum I wouldn't know her, she's 79 and I'm only 58, our characters would have no real reason to interact in the game (until I make 79!). So games like the 2 word story allow us to get to know one another.

Older stickied threads need to go, as do older posts, but not current things one would consider Off Topic. I like the Off Topic kinda feel to the Apoline General Discussion, without it most of us really wouldn't be sane at all. We need our off topicness to stay alive. So yes old stickys & older posts need to go. ^^

Tchu... I agree with above posts... Though, what makes Apoline special is the weirdness, the off-topicness and the general 0_o WHHHAAATTTT????!!!!

It's sticky filled, though many are relevant, but they need to get rid of SOME and it's nice if there are only like, 3 pages of stuff to go through... not... 64... *wince*

meh, its kinda spammy, but an easy step is just to make sub rooms from the General Discussion, for less general discussions, =P

I think active management of older archive worthy material should be done away with to an archive feature and links to pertinent information be left in a topic list sticky thread, sort of the encyclopedia of that server, a sever specific wiki. Posters should within reason and other posted guidelines, be able to post anything as it relates to the server theme. It is then the job of the forum administrators and web designers to do some work to decide what makes the cut, and build all the infrastructure.. I honestly don't care enough about the forums over having the game run smoothly, and I believe that opinion runs among the majority of players. So I doubt it would be possible to get enough players to rattle their sabers for the admins to take notice and ask the web designers to set something up.

Management requires work and drive, administration requires authority and vigilance. Thats why we have forum administrators, not managers.

Old threads that would make you a necroposter for posting on and the way, WAY off topic threads that fall under garbage would be nice. As long as the off-topic games like "2 word story" and "Post to a million!" stay, I'm happy. Having them in an Apoline server forum helps someone like me (who doesn't really socialize at all and has an ever-changing schedule) make friends with those on the same server.

I think it should be set that if a thread is dead for a week then it is deleted, this saves a lot of space.

I also think that each server should get an off-topic thread.

We could definitely use some cleanup what with the vast number of pages to scroll through and the incident with the IRL thread yesterday evening :/

With the rash of "cleanings" that have happened in Apoline, I would definitely say that we don't need anymore "help."

Threads are like stores. When you go to the mall, there are stores you like and stores you don't. Sometimes you have to walk a little ways to get to the ones you like, but that doesn't mean you need to kick out the ones you don't like because of that minor inconvenience, especially if those stores are being shopped in by others.

I know its late but my lil two cents:

I hate I Quit threads. Really if someones gonna quit, do it on their own time. I come to the general discussion looking for either: help, to give advice, or events. Not see that someone has quit. If theyve quit, they wont come back here and check their posts, so theres no point in really doing it. And since about 90% of the people who "quit" come back.. no point.

Repeat items. Like.. someone asking about divorce. Then 3 days later asking the same thing. Maybe just sticky one important one, or merge them together like yall were doing to all those "server down' threads so long ago.

D: Basically Id like to see the newest, hottest threads on page 1. Not "i quit" or "lets make fun of so'nso" or whatever.

Just my two cents :) I think its going pretty good here in Apo tho cus theres not much activity. The general fiesta general discussion tho.. omg.. DX I dont go there anymore
