I think that this is a bug; I do not see that anyone has posted it.
I and the people I have been playing with have had multiple windows open while we are typing in the chat bar.
Twice I have had to log out and restart the game.
I do have my chat bar set to close when I hit <Enter> BUT this happens afer selecting chat to begin talking not after entering a sentence; I discovered this during one of the occasions I was successful in closing the multiple windows.*
