Tips on upgrading gears with Xen.

Can anybody show their ways of enhancing gears using Xen? I've heard that there are ways to increase the chance of successful enhancement. Say for example, using level 20's characters on upgrading gears has higher chance than using say level 60+. And some say, it is better if you use a character to upgrade a gear only once per day. Is this fact or fiction? Could this really be the way upgrade system in SoS was programmed? I need views, clarifications, and/or confirmations regarding this matter. Thank you.

lvl 70 or so I upgraded my entire discovery set except the helmet(wich i bought already +4)
I made them from +3 to +4 each.(Body,Glove,Shoe)
I made the 6ap bow that i bought from X-STREME i think from +1-+4 with 1 xen each time but i failed once.
I dont think lvl matters,its all just luck.

I suspect that the random function is just ill-designed in xenning as well as in item division and drop rate.
I bring 10 or 20 xen stones at once to black smith shop because I hate to finish up with miserable failure.
