Forgive this if its a flame or rant, but this just angers me. Not too long ago (probably several minutes) a pair of mages come up to me and ask me for a buff. After I give them said buff, the one stays long enough to say "Thanks noob". I did a double take, asking if he just called me a noob, to which he answers with "yes". And that "oh please. I have a lvl 70 cleric". I may have stepped a little out of line here, but that was so incredibly offensive, as I've been playing this game since the beginning of last october, that I told him to "fck off". Granted that was in the wrong and I admit it openly, but... in my defense he called me an offensive name to begin with. I don't think I stepped too out of line. Anyone in that situation would have been offended. Especially since this person was some random dude to do it. I can see if you're joking, but there was no "lol" attached.
We argued in whisper about the usage of the word "noob" and how it wasn't a real word. I told him whether or not it was a real word, the term was still meant to be offensive.
But has this ever happened to anyone else? You do an act of kindness, and someone completely slaps you in the face for it?

I don't see what's wrong in this picture. I see this almost everyday. You provide help but later they shove it back in your face.
It's how the world works unfortunately.

Echo just remember this, for every ONE rude and ignorant person you meet, TEN nice kind ones will follow :D I know it is in our nature to get angry and upset with such meanness, but it doesnt do our blood pressure any good. :D
Do what I do and remember their names, next time they ask for a buff LAUGH OUT LOUD :D
caribean14
07-26-2008, 05:04 AM
Miazma's right. If someone asks you for a buff and is rude then don't buff them. After all, it's not like it's ur duty to buff people. If they don't have any manners, let them go look for a buff somewhere else.

Well the problem is they were rude AFTER the buff.
Next time get on your mage and debuff them.

I would like to say that they did nothing wrong but that is simply unforgivable. Although, there is no rule in the ToS that says they can't call someone noob after recieveing a buff from that person. Lol. If it were me, I would have asked them why they called me that and if they called me it again, I would just give them a funny look (This one --> -.-"') and continue what I was doing.

To be honest, through the long run I've been here I have never ever been called a "noob" before. >>; Not even in jest, so uh... yeah. I went off the deep end here.
But thanks guys ^_^ there are definitely a ton more nice people out there, and that idiot was blocked.
Well the problem is they were rude AFTER the buff.

Exactly! and fufufu I love your way of thinking >=D

HUGGGSSSSSS~ I still show all my love for all those clerics!
To be a cleric is to be a special kind of person
i apologize for those two's behavior and I hope that this doesn't bother you for too long. There are too many WAY cool people for you to be "mad at the world" I know you're not mad at the world I'm just saying don't let them bother you. They really weren't even worth your time;) to begin arguing with the guy. He probably just wanted attention. Some attention deprived children are like that I believe in games on line. That is just a psychological theory I have. Ignore it if you must. Next time, go hang out with a friend or two right after it happens. If not come chill with me if you're in Teva:D I'll crack some jokies and try get you smilies:D Surround yourself with good people when this happens. DON'T BE ALONE:) or you'll think about it more and next time try not to give that someone the benifit of knowing he got to you:) ILY CLERIC:D alot of us do dwdwdw so much

When something like that happens to me I usually end up venting about it in guild chat and then multiple clerics know not to buff him if he comes back.
I'da been mad it someone spoke to me like that too, sorry it happened but dont' let it get to ya ^^ its definitely not worth the aggrivation

Ew....people are jerks. And there'll always be people like that. The important thing to remember is to smack their heads in when you see them in PvP...or to laugh wildly when they ask for a rez or a buff or a heal...
And the whole 'level 70 cleric/mage' thing is soooo overdone....

And this is one reason why I've created my own "Buffing Blacklist" of sorts.
If someone does not even say "ty" or some sort of gratitude towards being buffed, or insult me before or after buffing them, I take a mental note of their name. And if they ask again for a buff in the future they won't get one. No matter how nicely they ask.
I even add people to this list if I see them being rude to others asking for a buff, or just being rude to others in general.
I do not reward rudeness.

haha xD because we should all expect to be showered with gratitude when we do something nice for others imirite?
I like coming up with creative ways to ask for buffs I think its the least I could do to thank them ;p

Rudeness is a big problem in the game, everyone likes to think they're high and mighty and the rest of us inferior, nothing like a good verbal slapping (without using foul words out of the censor)
As for the cleric and buffing issues... so many of them have been pissed off by rude people me and my mate have to lv up our own clerics to buff each other.. yup we get to switch characters, buff one another then switch to the other we want to play and be buffed then go out.. major inconvenience... thanks to all the jerks out there...

I don't expect to be "showered" with gratitude.
A simple "ty" "thanks", or something along those lines is enough for me.
I like hearing unique ways of asking for a buff, XD.
I once had someone ask for a buff and said "Xanthyia can you buff me plz?" and I did and then I thanked them for asking so nicely. And this this other player who was standing nearby was like "I can top that!", and then said something along the lines of "Oh, godly Cleric Xanthyia! May I please have a buff?"
That gave me a good laugh, and I buffed him.

I like to say stuff like
"Brave archer looking to be buffed so I may venture out to vanquish evil from Isya"
or
"Looking for honorable clerics to buff me so I can be as strong as an eagle"
I have an entire library of those -_-;;

This is why I've kinda quitted my cleric in Bijou and started a mage in Apoline, which my plan has taken a turn and now i have an archer in Apoline.
By the way ...>_>"... I've no idea on this but 2 boys in my class like using the word 'noob' outside games ... dunno why, must be retarded or something...

Ilove my cleric friends in Bijou, whenever we bump into each other... they just freely give me buffs without even asking for it. Though sometimes I fail to help them out in return, they still give me a lot of favor >> buffs. THNX!!!
If I don't know clerics, I don't ask them for buffs though when I was a noob I was one of the rude low levs begging for buffs. Now, I did learn not to ask anymore, just make scrolls... and suck it, till I get a buff.

I've noticed it, too. I know some great fighters, but a good half that I bump into (and interact with) could use a little work on their manners and behavior.

Wow.... thats was sure kinda rude players out there.... hmmm.... if the mages call you noob, they themselves is also noob... why? since they sounds so "professional" then why should they still ask for buffs? they might as well as use their scrolls (since they have a lvl70 char, its easy to get the ingredients required...unless they are just telling lies), show that you are professionals to call ppl noob when in the first place is YOU who ask clerics for buffs.
Just take for example, one day you when donate $X of dollar for charity, and when you finish dropping in the money into the coin box (flag day), the person tell you: "Haha... you are so dumb to really donate money" whereas the person approached you first for asking you to donate some for xxxxxx foundation. What do you guys think or feel?

Usually fighters... so i agree with your statement, other than that are noob mages, abnoxious (<- not sure of spelling) archers and clerics who don't know how to heal

Wah, that is really rude!
Some people just don't appreciate what clerics do >_<:
Better just put him on blacklist and make sure you never buff him again :]
Than he'll see why its bad to mess with a cleric.
And, btw, i don't think you went out of line, it was the noob that was out of line first xP

Maybe you'll think im a bit extreme lol, but I really have a blacklist of people I dont want to interact with at all. You really have to do something bad to go in there though lol, only 6 ppl in there so far.
Though, im not naive or stubborn. If I see that person has changed I take him back out... but they usually dont... so... lol

*Noob*
I've been called noob by CSR_Hal here during my first week at Outspark. Then a few weeks later, when he asked a question that was obvious to me, I called him noob and we had a good laugh but this is different, we know each other here but I can see how a total stranger can be rude after you did a favor and received that kind of response.
There are always folks in this world who will not see the light. Even when you give a second chance to correct the rudeness (whispering to mention you were offended could have ended this issue if they realized what they did and apologized in whisper).
Most likely they will end up in trouble one of these days if their attitude remains the same towards others. believe in Karma! She's well and alive, i visit with her once in a while :D
