First off, I'm posting this here instead of in feedback because frankly more people look here xD
One of the main issues with slow updates is that everything is controlled not by Outspark but by the developers at DNC; a lot of times there isn't much Outspark can do other than forward reports and wait for results while dealing with the angry community. So I decided to think up some possible *temporary* fixes to a few common problems that could be done that would benefit both Outspark and the players:
- Server-wide XP Boost: From what I've seen one thing Outspark has control over without needing to wait for DNC is server-wide boosts. A temporary long-term boost of maybe 200 or 300%, at least until the XP curve and balances fixes come out, would alleviate A LOT of the XP complaints, and would allow the GMs to take at least 1 critical issue into their own hands.
- Lost Brnyhild: The GMs can spawn monsters at will that drop certain items, right (e.g. the Pursuit of Xen moonbears)? The big problem with maps like Lost Brynhild and the Library is the lack of monsters, and no quest drops. If each day at regular intervals a GM spawned monsters in those places with corresponding drops, quests would become doable and there would be more places for people to hunt. It would take a GM just a few minutes every few hours to warp down and spawn out monsters until new mobs can actually be implemented. In fact, places like Brolly Basin could be used for this as well
- Posting a regularly updated "status" page of some sort: one of the key issues with players lately has been the lack of communication. While a list of known and upcoming issues may take a few hours to write up, it should only take a few minutes to update with what's coming, what's acknowledge, what's being worked on, etc. In fact, it doesn't even have to be a GM who writes this, it could be any member of staff including CLs, or even just regular players who are kept updated (such as Solstice Council members). Some form of regular update would keep a consistent communication link between players and Outspark, and help ease a lot of the frequent complaints and flamefests.
- GM Veggie shop: An AFK shop takes at most 3 minutes to make, much less if you know the prices of what you plan on selling. If a "GM" character(s) (run by the actual GMs) is set up (invisibly if needed) near the veggie ladies or item shops selling reasonably priced fruits and vegetables, players would be able to get better healing items much more easily until a permanent fix is made.
I invite others to include their temporary suggestions and ideas. Please make sure they are REASONABLE though, and can be done by Outspark and/or the players without requiring new updates or fixes from DNC.
I would also appreciate if a GM acknowledges issue brought up in this thread ^^
