invisible or camofladge mob

i know that for a fact that wolves arent supposed to be invisible or camofladge, but in the game i cant see them, ive tried re-installing the game and that doesnt work, tried downloading new client and install it still cantsee them. n my only solution when fighting wolves is to turn on the shadow to max, but i cant tell the differen what kind of wolves they are until i select them.
