What sort of music do you like?

Thought this might be nice to enlighten the massess or at least the handful of people who breeze by here.

I'm a big fan of hip-hop. Have been for like 6 years or so. Not just rap either. Hip-hop encompasses many different things, Djing, Rapping, Graffitti and b-boying. Sure im not into all of them.

Rap, as a whole is very misunderstood. Sure a LOT of rappers rap about guns, women and money, but mostly they are the ones just after cash money! And it sells right? The really skillful ones not only sound good and rap over a good beat but have a story to tell. And no, that story isn't always about how they shot some N*gga's, got high then funked a ho'. I've always loved it because there is so much vareity out there. There are songs that might make you tingle, there are deep meaningful tracks and yes, there are ones about funking.

As my taste matured. I have big love for many different rappers and dj's. MOst recently i have developed a love for two guys from canada and one from England. There names are Abdominal, decissive and DJ Format. Check out my fav song.
I then got big into DJing and Turntablism. ie. Scratching. That too is misunderstood and its something that, until you've done it yourself, just sounds like noise and doesn't look impressive, but there's a hell of a lot more to it than that. There's crabs, cuts, stabs, jabs, baby scratches, tear scratches, transforming, orbitals. Like hip-hop itself it originated in New York but spread.

Every year there is something called the DMC championship. Where young men and women attend for battles. They have a six minute timeframe in which to prove they are better than the next guy and if you know how hard scratching is, these guys will blow your minds.

You're right about hip hop though...it;s a shame people don't hear the good stuff....only what's on the radio..(hate that BS). If you wanna hear Hip hop at its finest, check out some jams from "the golden age of hip hop": A tribe called quest/ black sheep/ Diamond D/ KMD..........all great music when it was done for fun and the love of hip hop...not the almighty dollar..-.-
