Lets just call them that

for one you can't say any word that has "***" in it, even if your only saying "pass" it blocks it

oh and this

http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk70/Ultima228/screenshot010.jpg

You can't say that 1 word ingame w/o it being Censored, and yet the character is saying it for a quest, why are you not allowed to say it out of this, if your character says it IN that? doesnt make much sense to me

Deal with it.

The filter blocks words that can be used to insult other players.
The NPC's cannot insult players.

Also the filter system is far from perfect. It's got many flaws. I assume that something got busted on its way from Korea to Outspark. It will be fixed eventually, but as of right now I'd say it's pretty low on the priority list.

Lost in translation?

Most people click through the quest dialogue... not going to kill anyone now.

Well yeah it is pretty unfair that you can't even say pass. Just suck it up.

I've got a screenie of a quest where Healer Pooring says '*****' (without the exclamation mark). Scandalous! :D

But I get what you're talking about. One day these things will get fixed.

They really just should put " *** " into the filter instead of "***" if you know what I mean.

Just add the same letter to the end and it'll go through anyways.

And good thing ba$$tards isn't spelled basstards, otherwise Paladin Master Keast would have gotten censored too!

I used to think this was odd, in the lower levels, when during a quest, they'd show text that presumably my character said or thought in response to something a quest-giver said. There were times when I was simply appalled at how much of an *** the game made my character sound, especially in dealing with geriatrics like Grampa Robin or Myzen. I hope Fiesta-toons never have to work at an old folks' home...

Yes there are ways around it, but it gets kinda difficult when im recruiting and i can't ask class w/o it getting filtered because it has "***" in it

but if it'll get fixed eventually... then allright at least i have my answer, just hope this gets fixed fairly soon

>.< Yes I hate recruiting people and having it go

"Hi i wanna join"
"Ok cl***** and lvl?
er, cl*****
Gah cl@ss
Sorry.."

-_- But not much you can do.. not our fault osmeone somewhere wasnt smart enough to just filter out "***" and NOT filter out glass, pass, class, mass, etc.
Did you know the filter also blocks out "azz"? Meaning you cant say jazz, and any other word with azz in it.

I do think it was clever of them to only make it "*****" no matter what bad word you say. Therefore at least if all you see form a person is "***** ***** ***** *****" you dont need to know exactly what they said. Id rather see 5 asterisks and not know what they called me, than see 3 and know they meant to call me an "***". Kudos on that part at least

LMAO the *chat filter* on Fiesta is so much easier to deal with than other games I have played.

*** = asss simple, done deal, now it works. And if people want to think I did a typo so be it.

DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF. Look at all the good in the game instead :D

and that would be where?

Comparing this to other MMORPGs out there, <Name Removed> is better

#1 this game has HUGE ballance issues

#2 It takes FOREVER to earn money in this game

#3 Only 4 classes? ***?

#4 Only 1 type of each class, Magic Dealer, DPS/DoT, Healer and Tank, could do with more than one

just to start out with a few rants on this game

1: The only people who see balance issues in this game are the idiots who don't understand the actual role of each class in a party.

2: I've played worse games when it comes to earning IG money. Go out, kill things, pick up all the drops, and sell. I'm level 19 and I have....18s and some odd copper, just from drop-hunting and questing alone. And in that time, I've also found several equips that I could have vended, but have been too lazy too.

3&4: Once again, learn the roles of all the classes in a party and you'll find that hybrid classes aren't needed. It all depends on how you build your character. A fighter with all Str is strong with regular attacks, one with additional points in Spr can rely on skills and crits more then normal. There are hybrid versions of each class, but it's up to you to make them. And that's the beauty of Fiesta.

Oh, and 5: Stay on topic in the forums. ^_-

Now, onto the censoring issue....I like it, especially in Roumen. These dern 12 year olds today have filthy mouths O.o Not that the filtering stops them, mind you, but it does help ^_^

The filter is kinda annoying at times. I remember when I was like lvl 10 with that clam meat quest, I asked where to find it and it censored me -.-' I mean, what's so bad about clams?

Then the lvl 50 2h just ruins it. It's called the ******* Sword.. Good thing most people don't shout 'lf good ***** sword'.

ONLY problem I see with Fiesta at the minute is that people like you are taking up valuable server space :D :D IF you cant find anything good in the game then do us all a favour and dont let the door hit you on the bum as you leave :D

I've seen that, I almost died laughing when I realized it said what I thought it said. And also, you can't say the word "bandit", for some reason. I wonder why?

Random filter fact: Jesus is apparently a bad word according to the filter. Funny and sad at the same time. Oh well, filter is from Korea? *Shrugs* What to do?

Theres a quest either with the Uru town chief or Uru skill smarter (can't remember which) that also uses a foul word in the mid to late 60s I believe I actually canceled the quest and redid it just to s the word. Its amusing but just another 'error'/'typo' in the quests yet to be fixed like falling Sand hill that swamp name now....

There is one calling the monsters "bastages" (can't type the real word here since it's censored) which is really bad. We have them all lined up for fixing... hopefully soon

I would think that the appropriate alternative in the world of Isya would be "Teva!" or one of the other God/Goddess's names. XD

"Holy Legel Batman!"

I actually agree with Ultima. I understand that the censorship is trying to protect younger gamers, but really, sometimes it's down right irritating and does more harm than good. I think Outspark should make it so that gamers of a certain age can remove the profanity filter.

And while we're on the subject of censoring, why is the word "gay" censored, particularly if Fiesta Online is promising the advent of same-sex marriages? I personally find this not only offensive but rather blatantly discriminating.

Too many people use the word as an insult, either direct negativity to a homosexual or to accuse someone of being one if its something wrong, though the censoring of it may be for flat out discrimination or the one I just mentioned it is rather silly. Though no one uses it in that context, is also is defined as
"1. having or showing a merry, lively mood
2. bright or showy
3. given to or abounding in social or other pleasures
4. licentious; dissipated; wanton"

The word certainly does have other uses, just as the term "***" means cigarette in the UK. Nevertheless, censoring a word which the gay/lesbian community uses proudly still is and remains a form of online discrimination. Regardless of how many people use the word pejoratively, you can't censor a word that many would cherish as a defining term for their entire lifestyle.

A word is just a word. It's the intent behind the word that makes it offensive. This is where the "fine line" is for this censorship issue and why, I would suspect, they are having difficulties in drawing it.

This should be changed and the best we could do now is hope that this will be reported and resolved by outspark.
