Playing yesterday, I realised alot of people were spamming advertisments, websites and other stuff like that.
I told them to stop, and the reply I got off every single person that was using chat was
"Ooh, they are allowed to do it",
"Outspark promotes spamming" and
"Its the only way to get the announcer title".
Do you guys really want your chat boxes filled with auto-talker rubbish every 2 seconds?

[ PS ] - PLEASE don't spam, and if you use a auto talker - don't set the time to 1 sec between every message. Set it to 5 seconds, or 10 and help making our gaming experience more enjoyable

If I understand right you let them know that spamming for gold cash sites is right ? Yuck ! Those kind of guys have no place in Fiesta. Report them plain simple.

If they're spamming gold sites, then it should be reported... if it's jsut spamming an ad over and over again, then while it goes against common courtesy... just ignore it =/

I think they should take up extra channels into the game. A seller/buyer channel for instance, instead of shout channel. I just wish there was attention brought to this issue at large. I usually tend to shut all chat off when I play so I don't get eyesore from trying to keep up with the spew of spam.

I have shout turned off 100% of the time. I don't see the gold seller spam or the mindless babble of the 10 year olds trying to get the announcer title. And No I don't miss anything important because there is never anything important said in shout to begin with. I have been in since CB1 and have forgotten more than most of them know anyway. hehe
Just turn shout off. Trust me, you won't miss anything.

Ignoring won't solve the issue unfortunatly. There is a big difference between useless shouts and scam spammer.

Well for myself I try not to turn shout off for the fact a lot of people ask questions and I try to answer them.

As for spamming, The announcer title IMO is one of the most idiotic things there is. Is there really a need to shout 100X in an hour just to get a title?

From the gold scammers, and general spamming, that's why I posted my idea on player GM's. I've even seen people just shout "spam" over...and over just to get the title. The most we can do now until they have full 24/7 GM coverage is report...report and report....then wait for a GM to come on.

They should just make a map, just a plain field, with spots all around where players can set up shops.
No monsters, No Vendors, Nothing but field and spots for Shops. Then players could be allow to Spam all they want there. So they can work on their Announcer, Broadcaster, or Talk show host title, and sell their stuff at the same time. Then make a rule about no spamming in towns. This would allow players to still be able to do their Spamming and at the same time make towns alot quieter.

I think it would be a great way to fix this problem.

That still won't stop the gold spammers from spamming silver/pwr lvling sites everywhere they go =/

That I agree with Azn. Though it will help with just plain old Players Spamming.

That is the main thing, to reduce the amount of normal player spamming their products.

What the GMs could do, is make it to where in normal maps, you cant repeat the same message within a 10 min time frame. That means even if they switch up what they are saying, they would have to come up with enough messages to fill a 10 min time frame, because no message can be repeated more then 2x in 10min. Now on this Market type map, they could allow the repeats to go on as much as they want. So players could still have a shop in town, they just wont be able to spam.

Also with this Market type map, if a Player is looking to get Announcer, Broadcaster, or Talk show host title, they can do it there also.

Now as for these Gold/Pwr site spammers, the GMs and players would have to work together in weeding them out. We will never be rid of them 100% we all know that, but at least with the limitations on the amount of repeated messages, it will make it alot harder for them to spam in normal areas, and that is the main goal. To make it as hard as we can for these Gold/Pwr spammers to get their messages out. If they find a way around it, just add more restrictions on shouting. Forcing them to work even harder.

I dont know about the rest of you, but I want to make life as hard as possible for these people.

to bad more players dont follow your lead. Its like playing Russian roulette with those sites. Some times they are true, and will give you the gold for your money. (No i am not saying its ok, Its wrong plain and simple)
but a few get the unlucky site where all their information is stolen. Then they have to go through the whole process of getting their account back. Even if they do, most of the time the GMs wont give them their stuff back. So they have to work hard to get all they worked for back.

Not only that, but they also lost their RL money, or worse yet, they just lost their credit card information, and now have to deal with a HUGE bill, and only a few credit cards will be good enough to strike the bill if the money was actually stolen.

The honest truth is, that both sides have basically stolen the games property. They have bought and sold property that isnt theirs to be buying or selling in the first place. If they are caught doing it, then the makers of the game have the choice of either banning the account and leaving it at that point, but they do have the choice of taking both parties to court.

So those players who are buying gold or having someone power lvl them, run a HUGE risk in real life for something that isnt even real.

I personally can not see taking any of these risks for something that isnt real.

**Edit**
I know some people sit there and think, Pfft it wont happen to me, I am WAY to careful/good for it to happen to me, but these people dont realize that, this is the same thinking that all the other people were thinking right before these things happened to them.

People that spam to get a title or are just bored...whatever, that's fine. I can even stand the in town spamming for websites as long as it's not shouted across the whole map! The thing that really bugs me is when I try to say something and it appears above my head for half a second and then is replaced by someone else's spamming garbage!!! Keep your spam in your own bubble!!! It only seems to happen to me when I'm on the Teva server in Roumen near the fountain. Someone there has a nasty auto spammer that needs to GO AWAY!!!!!!

well well,

if i would have to write an anti spam protection i would implement a deactivatable filter on the receiver site. Using the fact that he logs all the messages anyway. Every message that is longer then maybe 16chars and is to 80% identical to a previous one is filtered. Add a flood protection like 30messages in a minute, and spamming should become MUCH harder.

In some games, global chat is limited to 15 secs/shout. You can only shout again after 15 secs.
